Our Basic Abdominal Ultrasound Course, taught by Ken Waller, DVM, MS, DACVR, focuses on the abdominal “Big Five”: the liver and gallbladder, spleen, kidneys, and urinary bladder. This course combines didactic lecture with hands-on laboratory instruction and covers the following learning objectives:

  • Selecting the appropriate transducer and preset for individual patients
  • Understanding fundamental principles of ultrasound image optimization
  • Applying essential transducer movement techniques
  • Identifying proper acoustic windows for imaging the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, and urinary bladder
  • Documenting images appropriately for archiving and/or teleradiology submission
